Head coach Bill O’Brien has helped Houston turn its season around. O’Brien is preparing for the Browns, who have proven worthy adversaries this season as they are back on the upswing.

J.J. Watt (knee) draws the questionable tag for Houston. Watt was limited in practice all week nursing the knee injury, but is likely to play Sunday.

The Browns have some momentum. For the first time in multiple seasons, the team has won consecutive games and looks to build off terrific back-to-back weeks against a team likely headed for the postseason.

Cleveland will need more performances like the one it got from No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield last week. Mayfield threw for a career-high four touchdown passes and 258 yards in the Week 12 win against interstate rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Hot” is an understatement for Indianapolis, winners of five consecutive games. Four of those five victories have come at Lucas Oil Stadium, which means the Colts still need to prove themselves away from home down the stretch.

Luck has maneuvered the Colts to within striking distance of the AFC playoff race. He told reporters preparation has played a big part in that.

“Honestly, I don’t think anybody in this locker room is looking at it like a streak. (Head Coach) Frank (Reich) has done a great job of keeping us just focused on the task at hand. Whether we were losing games or winning games, whatever it is, the approach has been the same. So in that department, nothing has really changed.

We just come in and try to make the most out of each day. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s what is working for us. That’s where our focus needs to stay. I think it is. We’ll fight against letting our focus go elsewhere.”

After two games on the road, Tennessee is heading back home. They will square off against the Jets at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday. Tennessee have the odds in their favor, so they’ll need to guard against complacency.

The last time they met, Tennessee were the 20-17 winner over Houston. This time around? They had no such luck. Last week, Tennessee lost to Houston by a decisive 17-34 margin. Tennessee’s loss shouldn’t obscure the performances of Marcus Mariota, who passed for 303 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Corey Davis, who caught 4 passes for 96 yards and picked up 39 yards on the ground on 1 carry.

Meanwhile, if the Jets were expecting to get some payback for the 6-26 defeat against New England the last time they met, then they were left disappointed. The Jets fell to New England 13-27. The Jets can’t seem to catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Tennessee found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 8-30 punch to the gut against the Jets when the two teams last met. Maybe Tennessee will have more luck at home instead of on the road? Watch the game and check back on CBS Sports for all the details.

Seahawks vs 49ers

The Seahawks have won nine straight, postseason included, against the San Francisco 49ers, and making it 10 in a row would be big for Seattle’s playoff hopes. While the Seahawks (6-5), have enjoyed a pretty strong season after rebounding from an 0-2 start, it has been a tough year for the 2-9 49ers, who came into the year with high expectations, but whose season has been derailed by injuries, including a season-ending knee injury to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

If the Seahawks are going to win a third straight game and further strengthen their playoff chances, these are three key matchups that could make the difference in Sunday’s game at CenturyLink Field:

For more than a decade, Doug Baldwin and Richard Sherman were teammates, first at Stanford and then with the Seahawks, but on Sunday they’ll go head-to-head in a game for the first time. And while they won’t line up across from each other all the time, it’s bound to happen at times during the game, and when it does, it will be must-see TV as two close friends and fierce competitors face off.

“It’s an interesting matchup to watch, and we’ll see how it goes,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “They have competed as hard as they could compete for a lot of years. Whether this game shows that or not, they’ve already been to the top of that mountain. I’m sure that there will be times when they line up on each other.”

And Sherman facing Baldwin and his former team isn’t interesting just because of Sherman’s impressive seven-year run with the Seahawks, but also because he’s a key part of San Francisco’s defense and a player the Seahawks have to be careful testing.

Seahawks vs 49ers Live Football Free Signup Game Tv

“I still see a really good football player,” offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. “I still see a guy that dissects things really well. I think his ability to pattern read and recognize things is uncanny. I still see a guy playing at a high level. It’s been cool to be around the guys that know him, they certainly know him way better than I do. I think it’s interesting because they know him, he knows us, and so that’s what’s going to make for a fun matchup on Sunday.”

The Seahawks obviously will try to establish the run as they have in most games this season, but they know doing so won’t be easy against a 49ers defense that ranks 10th in the league in rushing defense, allowing 102.7 yards-per-game. If the Seahawks aren’t able to run the ball as well as they’d like, they showed last week that they’re more than capable of moving the ball through the air as well, with Russell Wilson throwing for 339 yards and two touchdowns in a win in Carolina. But if the Seahawks do have to throw the ball, they know they’ll need to be aware of an old friend wearing No. 25.

“Sherm is as good as it gets as a corner,” Wilson said. “He can make a lot of plays, so you’ve got to know where he is and understand that. I’ve got a lot of respect for how he plays the game and how intelligent he is.”

When running back Jerick McKinnon went down with a torn ACL just before the start of the season, it was potentially a big blow to the 49ers running game, but thanks in large part to the emergence of second-year back Matt Breida, the 49ers are still running the ball well, averaging 134.9 yards-per-game, the fifth-best total in the NFL.

Breida, who went undrafted out of Georgia Southern in 2017, leads the 49ers with 738 rushing yards and is averaging an impressive 5.8 yards-per-carry. He is coming off of back-to-back 100-yard games, including gaining 106 yards on just 14 carries last week.

“He’s really fast and he likes to get on the edge,” linebacker Bobby Wagner said. “Our edge is definitely going to be tested. They’re going to try to run outside. They have a lot of good runs to complement, have us thinking it’s going to be an outside run and then it cuts back. It’s definitely going to be a discipline game. It’s going to be a game that we need to make sure we’re on our fits, but from him it’s kind of like he’s going to be a fast guy. They’re going to try to get him on the edge, they’re going to run a lot of stretch plays to see if they can find a crease in the defense and make it a track game. We’re fast too, though.”

The Seahawks know if they’re going to slow Breida down, they’re going to have to clean things up with a run defense that allowed 220 rushing yards to Carolina last week.

“Run defense is connected to everybody,” defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. said. “I think that anytime that anybody runs the ball, everybody has a responsibility on the defense and it comes down to discipline, gap control, effort, attitude—all these things have to work together to have a successful play.”

Added Wagner: “We need to do better. It’s definitely an area we need to improve on. We pride ourselves on our run defense and it hasn’t been up to par. I take it upon myself to make sure that we do that better. We’re still making plays that we need to make when the time presents itself but we definitely have to be more consistent when it comes to the run game and a lot of it is just taking our shot and being on our keys and communicating.”

If you look at the Seahawks and 49ers statistically, you might not think their records were all that different. The Seahawks rank 16th in total offense, while the 49ers rank 17th, trailing Seattle by one-tenth of a yard. The 49ers rank 11th in total defense, while the Seahawks are 16th with 9.3 yards-per-game separating the two teams. But there is one stat in which the teams are drastically different, and it’s a big reason why the Seahawks having a winning record and are in playoff contention, and the 49ers are 2-9. Through 11 games, the Seahawks have a turnover differential of plus-eight, which is tied for fifth best in the NFL, while the 49ers rank 31st at minus-17. So far this season, the Seahawks are 5-1 winning turnover battle, while the 49ers are plus-1 in their two victories, and minus-18 the rest of the season.

“It has been huge,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said on a conference call. “I mean, our defense, I think we’ve played a little bit, numbers-wise and everything, similar to Seattle. We had a middle of the pack defense and both of our offenses, we haven’t done a lot throwing the ball but Seattle is number one, I believe, in running and I think we’re fourth right now so we’ve depended on the run a lot. We’ve been middle of the pack on defense, which usually gives you a chance to be in every game but when you’re turning the ball over like we have and not getting the turnovers on defense, that makes it really tough to win and I think our record shows that.”

Patriots vs Vikings

Football Betting Odds – Vikings Have Difficult Task vs. Patriots

Click Here To Watch Now Football

The New England Patriots will certainly be challenged by the tough Minnesota Vikings defense in a game scheduled for Gillette Stadium late Sunday afternoon.

It looks, at least on paper, as a really ideal matchup, pitting a team that has been known through the years for an explosive offense, going up against of vaunted defensive unit. So that’s the picture being painted about Sunday afternoon’s encounter between the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings, which is scheduled to get underway at 4:25 PM ET at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. It will be televised by Fox Network, and BetAnySports customers will be able to watch the game and place wagers while it is in progress, as they access what is available through Live Betting Ultra.

The Patriots are once again very much in control of the AFC East, leading the Miami Dolphins by three full games with an 8-3 record (7-4 ATS). Tom Brady has been efficient, as usual, but he’s not having his greatest statistical season, throwing for just 19 touchdowns in eleven games, with seven interceptions. This team will be okay, however, as they have those nice components of the passing game – Julian Edelman (44 catches, 510 yards) filling the slot, with Josh Gordon (17.6 yards per reception) stretching the field, and All-Pro Rob Gronkowski exploiting matchup advantages at tight end, with the leading receiver being James White out of the backfield (67 catches, 567 yards).

It was the Vikings who had to undergo an offensive restructuring of sorts this season, as they brought a new, expensive quarterback on board. Kirk Cousins came with a huge price tag, and that had been expected for a couple of seasons. Of course, there were critics who questioned whether he was worth it, or was instead just a cookie-cutter quarterback. But the Vikings saw him as the missing ingredient to a genuine Super Bowl run. So far Cousins has completed 71% of his passes with 22 touchdowns, and he has made an historic connection with Adam Thielen, who already has 93 catches for 1138 yards. Stephan Diggs is Thielen’s sure-handed complement, and of course there is tight end Kyle Rudolph. So it can be concluded that the Vikings are a little more dangerous in the passing than they were with journeyman Case Keenum. But they are chasing the Chicago Bears, who lead them by a game and a half in the NFC North.

Perhaps the most important connection Cousins could make in this one is to running back Dalvin Cook, because of the fact that New England hasn’t necessarily been all that efficient defending backs coming out on pass routes. But we’re interested as well in how Minnesota defends against White. This is a team that gets a lot of pressure on the passer (36 sacks) and they may try to prevent Brady from being able to step up in the pocket very effectively.

The Pats are just a little below 40% in converting third downs, but the evidence indicates that Minnesota is one of the NFL’s best, if not THE best, on defense in that situation, limiting foes to just 27.6%.

Patriots vs Vikings NFL Football Free Signup Game Tv

And New England is going to be very hard-pressed in maximizing its scoring opportunities; Minnesota’s defense has the best touchdown-allowed rate in red zone situations, as well as the best touchdown-field goal ratio. Of course, the flip side is that the Vikings have been rather poor in converting red zone chances into touchdowns on offense (just 25th in the league).

Minnesota has been a righteous dog under the leadership of Zimmer (23-12 ATS), and it appears as if they have what it requires to take this one to the wire.

The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Los Angeles Chargers in a “Sunday Night Football” game that could have huge AFC playoff implications. Kickoff from Heinz Field is at 8:20 p.m. ET. AFC North leader Pittsburgh (7-3-1) saw its six-game win streak snapped Sunday at Denver, while the Chargers (8-3) remain one game behind the Chiefs in the AFC West. Pittsburgh is a 3.5-point home favorite. The Over-Under, or total number of points Vegas thinks will be scored, is 52 in the latest Chargers vs. Steelers odds. Before you make any Chargers vs. Steelers picks and predictions, check out what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The advanced computer model simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, and those who have followed it have seen massive returns. SportsLine’s proprietary computer model went 176-80 last season and beat over 95 percent of CBS Office Pool players in 2016 and ’17. It also performed better than 98 percent of experts tracked by NFLPickWatch.com during that span. Additionally, it went 48-34 on A-rated picks against the spread last season, and $100 bettors who followed it the past two seasons are up nearly $4,000.

The model has continued to nail its top-rated picks in 2018, entering Week 13 on a blistering 13-2 run. For the season, it is now 27-11 on all top-rated picks, extending its two-year run to a strong 75-45. And when it comes to all straight-up picks, the model went 12-3 last week and is 118-56 for the season, ranking in the top five on NFLPickWatch.com.

Now the model has dialed in on Chargers vs. Steelers on “Sunday Night Football” (stream live on fuboTV). We can tell you it’s leaning Under, and it’s also generated a strong point-spread pick that’s hitting in well over 50 percent of simulations. You can only see that one over at SportsLine.

Steelers vs Chargers Live NFL Football Free Signup Tv

The model knows Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is enjoying a renaissance this season, averaging over 300 yards per game and tossing 24 touchdown passes. He has electrifying wideouts in Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster, who have combined for nearly 2,000 receiving yards. Smith-Schuster pulled off an amazing 97-yard TD reception in Denver last week when he outraced two defenders at midfield.

The Steelers have dominated the Chargers historically, winning eight of the last 10 meetings. And in their last six games following a straight-up loss, Pittsburgh has covered each time.

But just because the Steelers are back home in a favorable spot doesn’t mean they’ll cover more than a field goal against the playoff-bound Chargers on “Sunday Night Football.”

The Chargers have won seven of their last eight games and are yielding only 15.8 points per contest during that stretch. Five of L.A.’s eight victories have been decided by double-digits thanks in large part to Philip Rivers. The veteran quarterback is enjoying a sizzling season, completing 70 percent of his pass attempts tor over 3,100 yards with 26 touchdowns. Last Sunday against the Cardinals, Rivers was nearly flawless, completing a record-setting 28 of 29 throws.

Workhorse running back Melvin Gordon won’t play because of a knee sprain, but Austin Ekeler (5.8 yards per carry) is a shifty backup who can keep the defense honest. He caught a career-high 10 passes for 68 yards last week. L.A. has covered four of its five road games this year.

Who wins Chargers vs. Steelers? And which side covers well over 50 percent of the time? Visit SportsLine now to see which side you need to be all over on Sunday Night Football, all from the incredible computer model that has returned nearly $4,000 to $100 bettors.

Falcons vs Ravens

Falcons vs Ravens betting lines, storylines and TV info: Lamar Jackson takes show on the road

With Jackson behind center the past two weeks, the Ravens followed a renewed running game to two victories. The formula has logic to it: Let the first-round rookie quarterback use his dual-threat skills, commit to the ground game to control the clock and lean on the NFL’s top-ranked defense down the stretch. Everything’s run smoothly so far — but how might that change when Jackson makes his first start on the road in favorite of win-hungry opposing fans? We’ll find out soon.

While Jackson will garner the most attention, the quarterback on the other sideline Sunday owns more accolades and experience. Matt Ryan, the 2016 NFL MVP, remains one of the best passers in the league, and if Baltimore’s standout secondary cannot contain Atlanta’s receivers, the Ravens could face a long afternoon — no matter how Jackson fares.

Falcons vs Ravens NFL Football Free Signup Game Tv

The Ravens have an inside track to the final playoff spot in the AFC, but they face the first-place Chiefs in Kansas City next week and also have a trip to play the Chargers (8-3) in Los Angeles on the schedule. So if Baltimore loses to Atlanta on Sunday, its climb to the postseason will grow much steeper. This is a big game for a franchise that’s missed the playoffs in three straight seasons.

The Baltimore Ravens have won both of Lamar Jackson’s NFL starts but Sunday will mark the first time he has to play on the road. Will Jackson lead the Ravens to an upset win over the reeling Atlanta Falcons today at 1:00 p.m. ET

Preview: Jameis Winston tries to lead Buccaneers out of division cellar with matchup vs. Panthers

What works in one situation may not necessarily be the answer in another. Newton’s second-place Carolina Panthers (6-5) have lost three straight games following a 6-2 start, moving closer to the bottom of the NFC South than the top.

Winston’s getting another chance to lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-7) out of the division cellar after spending a month on the bench because of his propensity for making costly mistakes.

“In the NFL, part of winning is not losing, not beating yourself,” Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said, reflecting on Winston delivering his best performance of the season to help Tampa Bay stop a four-game skid last week.

“You have to just keep it simple,” said Winston, who lost his starting job after turning the ball over 11 times in 14 quarters.

“I’m thinking about one play at a time, one completion at a time, one game at a time,” Winston said. “It’s easier to keep it simple when you’re decisive, making quick decisions and getting the ball out of your hands.”

The Panthers haven’t won since beating the Bucs 42-28 at home on Nov. 4. Kicking woes factored in narrow losses the past two weeks to Detroit and Seattle, however, and Newton said he’s focused on the next opportunity to get back on track.

“You can either celebrate or sulk and sob,” the Carolina quarterback said. “After that 24 hours is up, let it go. That has been so helpful for me in my growth as a man.”

Buccaneers vs Panthers Live Football Free Signup Game Tv

For Winston, Sunday’s game against the Panthers represents the next test in what amounts to an audition to determine if he’s Tampa Bay’s quarterback of the future.

The 24-year-old didn’t face the Panthers last time. He was benched after throwing four interceptions the previous week at Cincinnati.

Newton has thrown at least two TD passes in 10 straight games and seems to be thriving in Norv Turner’s offensive scheme.

Christian McCaffrey last week became the first Panthers running back to eclipse 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving in the same game. His 237 yards from scrimmage against the Seahawks were the most in franchise history.

Newton joked that you shouldn’t call the 5-foot-10, 205-pound McCaffrey “small,” because he hates being labeled a small back.

“C-Mac has defied all odds,” Newton said. “With C-Mac, he has always been a workhorse. He’s always been a playmaker. There’s no denying that. My thing is when you draft a person, is he comfortable with the game on the line?”

Carolina’s defense has thrived on takeaways over the years, but they have been struggling in that area of late. The Panthers haven’t forced a turnover in the three games since they last played the Buccaneers. In that game they intercepted Ryan Fitzpatrick twice.

In the last meeting, Carolina cornerback James Bradberry put the clamps on Bucs receiver Mike Evans, holding Tampa Bay’s top receiver to one catch for 16 yards on 10 targets in a 42-28 victory at home.

However, Bradberry has struggled in three games since giving up big plays in each of those games in losses to Pittsburgh, Detroit and Seattle.

“They game-planned really well,” Evans said. “Even though they’re a one-high team, it felt like Eric Reid was just coming to me no matter what. And then Bradberry was underneath just pressing. So, I’ve got to be better, more physical, faster and stronger, and I think I will be this time around.”

Chase Daniel once again gets the start for Chicago. Mitchell Trubisky remains out for the second straight week with a shoulder injury.

The Bears attempt to win their sixth straight game. They currently hold a game-and-a-half lead in the NFC North, and own the tiebreaker with the Minnesota Vikings.

Miami is looking to keep its fading playoff hopes alive. It starts at the top with head coach Adam Gase and the rest of the offense.

Despite getting back Ryan Tanehill (shoulder) last week, the Dolphins blew a 14-point lead in the second half against the Indianapolis Colts on the road. Gase feels responsible and told reporters he thinks his team could be even better.

The Dolphins have lost consecutive games, and four of their past five. The Bills have actually done the opposite, winning their last two to move their record to 4-7.

This is all thanks to a defense that continues to be stingy and outlast lower-scoring opponents, as well as finding some key plays from 2018 first-round pick Josh Allen. Allen hasn’t looked great, but he has made enough big plays this season to have fans excited about what is come to come.
